but the fact of the matter is that about six months after we broke up (he was already divorced), I moved a few states away. And even then, it took awhile for us to be able to really be friends. It was just too painful for me. I had to get all healed up from the rejection b/c it hurt like he!!. Him ~ he was in touch via IM all the time and for a long time, it just made me cry. I was "good enough" to be his friend, but not "enough" to be in a real relationship with him.

But we always said that our friendship was the most important thing and with enough time and work and clear boundaries (which we both still occasionaly break), we did it. We're not really the norm, tho.

Good luck, darlin'. If you want to be friends, think about what it's going to take for it to work for YOU. If you don't want to be, just tell him.
