This sounds to me like polygamy and not necessarily your garden variety EMR. I guess it all depends on what the wife really knows. But your post below about her giving consent for you and he to have a sexual relationship....that doesn't usually happen in an EMR.

I'm not saying that you don't have valid EMR type issues and that this place isn't a good place for you...but your situation is indeed complex.

Perhaps it is time for it all to be put out on the table. If you are ok with how things are (because as you said, you want him to take care of her), and he is ok with how things are and wife is ok with how things are....I think then the issue becomes figuring out how you all exist peacefully with whatever parameters you all decide.

This is hardly scientific evidence, but I once watched this show on TLC about polygamous families and while I didn't fully understand it, they certainly had some unique dynamics.

Best of luck to you Aracari. I can't imagine how complicated and stressful this situation might be!
