    First, what you should do in order not to "threadjack" (interrupt someone else's thread) is to click on the "Post Message" link under the broad blue advertising bar on the Pink page. That is how you create your own new thread where people can answer you.

I am sorry that all that negativity is impeding your progress. While in time a lot of it will fade away as newer, more interesting events occur in the community, some people tend to hold onto their prejudices for a long time--longer than 4 years, obviously. Without more info on your situation, I can't offer much more than my understanding. Let us know a little bit more about your story (without specific names, places, or job info), and someone might come up with better suggestions.
