When MM Suddenly Dies

Dear Emerald,

I have a very dear friend whose lover has died suddenly at the age of 37. She had not heard from him in 5 weeks, which was highly unusual as they spoke almost daily. He had last called her from the hospital, where he was having elective surgery. There was no one she could call to ask what was going on so as a last resort she did an online search of the obituaries. His name popped up.

He had died three days after their last conversation. They had a very loving, long term relationship that made them both very happy.

I am seeking to find some grief counseling/therapy for my friend. At this time she needs to deal with her grief over the sudden loss of her lover and best friend not get the double whammy of working through why she was having an affair in the first place.

I have been unable to find anything the least bit appropriate for her situation.

Do you have ANY suggestions.

Signed: A very concerned friend that believes to have had the opportunity to love someone as completely and deeply as she did and receive same in return is a gift most of us will never know.

Thanks for any advice you may have!

Best regards,

Still Hoping

Hi Hoping.

You are one hell of a friend. I don't have any suggestions other than to send her to the main board or the new boards on this website, and talk with people who completely understand the love she experienced with her friend, and who will not judge her, and will help her grieve.

In the meantime, I will print this letter on the site and ask people for helpful suggestions. Do people have any suggestions? Please write them in "The Last Word" so all can read them.

You are a treasure as a friend. Thank you for writing.

Love - e
