Of Laughter and Love Shared
by Tammy

A silent song I sing
and a half-mad moan escapes me.
Unbidden thoughts rise up
Like a phoenix to consume me.
Of laughter and love shared,
Not mine.

A slow burn begins inside me
And I berate myself
because of my need.
Too proud to ask you to stay,
Too fear-filled to bear the choice.

For when I cannot keep my counsel,
And hope-laden words pour from my lips,
I sense your drifting heart.
I blind my own to your guilt-laden rejection.

Quell my fear with your lips,
Feed the flames of my desire with your tongue
For my body is yours for the asking.
But deep within the craven walls of my mind
my own private Hell endures.

Where your embrace is mine when I need it.
And no boundaries limit our hearts,
No choice to be made,
no guilt to appear,
no demon to battle within.

Continue to love me
Not just body, but spirit
Until the flames of my Hell are expired.
