HE WILL NEED MY EYES by SamIf looked at critically
or part by part appraised,
measured by the inch
or every sinew guaged.
The Critic may not find stunning
your eyes or nose or lips,
your face may not perhaps
launch those thousand ships!
But the nondiscerning fool will
not have seen just how
your smile lights your eyes and
how the frown sits on your brow.
He will not have seen how
unique humour and wit,
etch chuckles on your dear face,
giving radiance and beauty to it.
How distinguished you look
when you are deep
in thoughts and how the calm
touches you in sleep.
He would never witness the change
of your eyes from nothing much
to gleaming and burning stars
kindled by a soft touch.
A face so vibrant and expressive
every fiber so full of life
every sinew reflecting your response
to moments of pleasure and strife.
Your beauty is the real thing
and with the sun it vies
but to see it - that critic -
HE WILL NEED MY EYES!
