Beams
by bev

You said you needed the concrete,
not the chaos.
You wanted solid beams in your life
not the ardent kiss.

Coffee and headlines for the mornings
order and structure
turbulent passions couldn't take you
where you wanted to go

Does she fill you up?
Does she ease your ache?
Does she give you the peace I couldn't provide?

I kept your sleepy kisses given at dawn
I have your screams etched in my soul
I have your laughter
And I will never let it go.
